Help!
I've tried to make DspCtrl as intuitive as possible but of-course one person's 'intuitive' is another's 'totally baffled'. If confusion sets in, do
have a look at the help documentation available from within the program.
I did have a chat page thingy which was very basic but quite useful. Unfortunately it was targeted by spammers so is now off-line. The archive is here.
For general help with the DS2416 card and related matters the best place for a long time was the
Ampfea list, but, sadly, it seems to have disappeared.
One of the members of this list, Dave Renton, recently set up a forum (www.ds2416.net) but this now seems to have gone too. So, I've just set up a replacement which you can find at www.ds2416.org.
Another member of the Ampfea list, Tim Dailey, keeps a
list of known 'good' motherboards for use with the DS2416. You can find this and other useful info on Tim's site here.
If none of this sorts out your problem email me at the address below.
Bugs!
If you find a bug, then please accept my apologies, and please tell me about it (email below). I will try to fix it quickly, but please see the note on my home page about limited time available just now. In order to be able
to help with a problem it helps greatly if I can reproduce it here, so tell me the exact steps you go through to produce it. Sending me a copy of the DspCtrl (.dsc) file you're using (zipped up first please) is often helpful. If I don't respond, or seem to
have forgotten, please email again and remind me.
Known issues
Custom install directories
A number of people have complained that when they install DspCtrl into anything other than the default location a number of things don't work. I
have now found the bug in the installer which is causing this and have uploaded a fixed version. Note however that the DspCtrl version no.s have
NOT been incremented (still at 2.5.4 and 3.2.2). If you have already installed 2.5.4 or 3.2.2, you will have to uninstall them first (Control Panel -
Add/Remove Programs) and then re-install using the new installer.
FX presets
When the FX window is in 'stand-alone' mode, FX presets cannot be saved.
Unable to Load Presets
If you have the folder option "Hide file extensions for known file types" checked on your machine, and the file extensions used by DspCtrl for presets
(.dpm and .dps) are registered on your system (ie to other applications), DspCtrl will not be able to find its preset files. I'm looking for a
workaround to this. In the meantime, you can just uncheck "Hide file extensions....". Thanks Tez for bringing this to my attention.
Help system doesn't work in Windows Vista
You can download the help in rtf format on the download page.
DspCtrl and Cubase
Cubase (VST and SX) provides in-built but rather basic DS2416 support. If you want to use Cubase along with DspCtrl it is best to disable the
Cubase DS2416 support but there is no facility for doing this in Cubase. It is however possible to do it by changing the name of the ymix2416 DLL
(to ymix2416.xxx) and then editing the ASIO driver DLL with a hex (binary) editor so that it looks for the renamed ymix2416. (DspCtrl will automatically
find ymix2416.xxx.) Full details are given in the DspCtrl help (version 2.5 onwards).
